At just 21 years old, Deon Jones found herself navigating motherhood with limited maternal health resources after her son, Elijah, was born with Down syndrome and later diagnosed with autism, which led to Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). Experiencing firsthand the challenges of finding support, services, and community for families affected by SPD, Deon was inspired to create the organization she wished had existed for her during that time.

Founder Deon Jones established Uniquely Me Creative Arts (UMCA) to ensure that children with sensory needs and their families have access to inclusive programs, educational resources, family support, and a welcoming community where every child can thrive.

Deon brings 17 years of experience with the New York City Department of Education, having served as a special education teacher, assistant principal, and currently as a district math and science instructional specialist. A lifelong Brooklynite, she partners with elected officials, community organizations, and local leaders to provide resource fairs, educational workshops, and family-centered programs that empower children with disabilities and their families throughout New York City.
